February 28, 2010:
"I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!" Psalm 27:13-14.
Sometimes life is hard. Romans 8 even reminds us that we will suffer with the Lord. The Psalmist has seen hard times. However, the Psalmist does not allow the struggles of life to destroy his faith in God. He ends his song by saying that he believes he will one day see the "goodness of the Lord."
The Psalmist can say this because of his strong, long relationship with God. He’s been down this road before, and though this path is still hard, in his heart he knows how all this is going to end. It will end with life. It’s only a matter of time.
During Lent, we’ve challenged you to add something to your life that will help you grow closer to God. This builds a good foundation so that when the trials come -- and they will come -- we will have confidence that God is with us.
So take courage, wait on God, and be strong. The day will come when we "shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living."
